STRONG - Junction City and Hermitage celebrated championships Saturday at the Union County Jr. High Tournament. The Dragons beat Smackover 65-38 to claim the boys title after the Lady Hermits rallied past Parkers Chapel 38-30 in the girls' championship match-up.
In the boys final, the Dragons seized control early and never gave it up. Junction City (3-2) led 32-13 at the half.
Jeremiah Williams, Ryan Allen and Tate Barnett scored 12 points apiece to lead the Dragons' balanced scoring attack.
Deon Hildreth led the Buckaroos with 17.
In the girls game, the Lady Trojans got off to a sluggish start before building a 19-16 halftime advantage.
But, Sara Wilkerson took over in the paint and on the boards for Hermitage, banging home a game-high 27 points in the victory.
Taylor Fortune led Parkers Chapel with 10 while Dru Thomas scored eight for the Lady Trojans, who slipped to 6-3 on the season.
